Our Story

The Hidden Sauna Bridgefield was the result of an idea when we discovered that our sixteen year old ash forest became infected with Hymenoscyphus fraxineus better known as ash dieback disease. As the disease takes over the tree, the leaves disappear and the wood becomes brittle which leads to the eventual death of the tree.

We believe as sad as it is to see the trees slowly die and rot away, we should make use of what we have to to power our wood fired sauna to both make an enjoyable experience and raise awareness of the affect that this imported disease has on our ash forest not only on our farm but forests across Ireland.

 

The Hidden Sauna Bridgefield is an outdoor retreat nestled in the heart of nature. We offer an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life; a haven where you can relax in an invigorating sauna and refreshing cold plunge pool situated in an area of natural beauty. Our plunge pool is fed from the cold spring water of the Dower river which flows from a nearby cave. The mature woodland provides a natural private space in the East Cork countryside, on our historic Bridgefield Farm.
